How can the school counsellor help you specifically?
How can I see the school counsellor?
What can the school counsellor help me with:
Resolving conflicts.
Setting and reaching personal goals.
Getting along with others.
Figuring out your feelings.
Managing worries.
Handling anger.
Finding your passions.
Practicing how you can ask for what you need.
Building confidence.
What does a school counsellor actually do?
I meet with students 1 on 1 or in small groups to talk about how things are going for you and help you how to solve your current challenges.
School counsellors can help you figure out how you felt in a situation, what choices you had, and how you can handle situations in the future.
School counsellors keep what you say private, unless:
You want to hurt yourself.
Someone is hurting you.
You want to hurt someone else.
You give me permission to share.
How can the school counsellor help you specifically?
I can offer individual counselling sessions by listening to your concerns about academic, emotional, or social problems and by helping you to process and resolve your problems.
I can help you with short-term counselling interventions, and referrals to other health specialists for long-term support.
How can I see the school counsellor?
You can initiate to meet me directly by e-mailing me, visiting me in the IB office or by asking Kate for an introduction.
You can also ask your parents or teachers to get in touch with me via Operoo.
We can meet in my office or somewhere else on the school campus or just go for a walk.
If you want support, don’t hesitate to come, and talk to me!
