MMUN - Montessori Model United Nations

13 GISS students from the Year 6, 8 and 10 are this week travelling to New York to participate at the Montesorri Model United Nations (MMUN) Conference.

MMUN is a simulation of the UN General Assembly where students assume the role of UN delegates for a certain country and then debate a specific topic with other students from around the world. Our students worked on their topics since September 2018 and will be representing Honduras (Year 6), Andorra (Year 8) and Finland (Year 10).

The topics discussed are quite varied and range from the elimination of racism, the responsibility of international organisations or the right of self-determination. The students worked intensively on these topics and had to write a position paper and a speech which they will present during the conference.

The conference will be held in the General Assembly Hall at the United Nations Headquarters and the closing ceremony will be streamed live via MMUN FAcebook Page (www.facebook.com/MontessoriModelUN/)
