We're looking for a Facilities Coordinator to join our team on a full-time basis.

About the Role:


The Facilities Coordinator is tasked with ensuring the school's facilities are maintained in a safe, clean, and functional state, supporting a positive learning environment. This role involves routine upkeep and proactive maintenance of the school's buildings, grounds, and equipment, focusing on compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) standards and efficient operation.

Key Responsibilities:


Maintenance and Upkeep:

    • Carry out regular inspections to identify maintenance needs.
    • Maintain an asset management system to aid in the scheduling of maintenance items.
    • Coordinate and perform routine maintenance and repairs to minimise disruption.
    • Manage and oversee external contractors for specific maintenance & facility management tasks.
    • Manage the test & tag registry for all electrical appliances.

    Safety and WHS Compliance:

    • Ensure the school environment is safe and secure for all users.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and compliance with WHS regulations and practices.
    • Ensure timely completion of all Facilities-related regulatory filings/inspections such as Annual Fire Safety Statement, Lift Registration, and arborist inspections.

    Facilities Coordination:

    • Work closely with school staff to address safety and maintenance concerns promptly.
    • Assist in planning and executing facility improvements and maintenance during school breaks.
    • Regularly inspect the performance of external cleaning & landscaping providers to ensure they meet the school’s expected service levels.
    • Ensure the security of the school premises, including managing access controls and security systems.
    • Preparation and implementation of the maintenance budget.

    Health and Safety Focus:

    • Lead on health and safety matters within the school, conducting regular checks and addressing issues swiftly.
    • Keep detailed records and reports on health and safety issues and maintenance activities.

    General Duties:

    • Carry out a variety of ad hoc daily maintenance activities.
    • Set-up for School functions may require some work during non-business hours such as evenings or weekends.
    • Participate in the planning and management of external service contracts within budget constraints.
    • Perform other related tasks as required by school leadership.

    Qualifications:

    • Experience in facilities maintenance or a similar role, with a focus on safety and proactive maintenance.
    • Prior experience working in a School environment would be highly regarded.
    • Ability to prioritise tasks and ensure timely completion of safety-relevant maintenance requests.
    • Ability to properly document all works and provide reports to senior management.
    • Familiarity with WHS practices and regulations.
    • Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
    • Leadership and teamwork skills, able to coordinate with various stakeholders.
