The German International School Sydney (GISS) is currently seeking an experienced, committed, and passionate Business Manager to join our team.
The GISS is a small international school offering a bilingual education programme (German and English) from Preschool to the bilingual IB-Diploma. It is registered by NESA and accredited by the Federal Republic of Germany as a German School Abroad.

About the role:
The Business Manager oversees the administration function of the school and is a highly valued member of the senior leadership team at GISS. Leading a team of eight staff, this is a rare opportunity to contribute to the success of the school. The Business Manager has a joint reporting line to the School Board on financial and compliance matters and to the principal for matters concerning day-to-day administration. You will enjoy the opportunity to work within a multilingual community in an inclusive environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Strategically managing the schools' financials which includes the preparation and implementation of the annual budget
- Financial reporting including monthly board reporting
- Board Company Secretariat duties
- Government reporting and compliance
- WH&S
- Human Resources support
- Leadership of the administration team including, but not limited to, the registrar, marketing and IT departments as well as building and grounds-keeping staff
- Fostering positive community and business relations and ensuring the school is positively represented at all times.
To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:
- CA or CPA qualification a significant plus but not essential
- Previous experience in school operational management
- Working knowledge of accounting practices, HR Management and industrial relations and WHS legislation
- Proven leadership experience
- Sound working knowledge of management information systems
- Excellent English language skills. Whilst not essential, fluency in the German language would be a distinct advantage
- The ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents
- WWCC clearance.
