How can you become a teacher, staff-member or principal at the German International School Sydney?

If you are based in Australia, you can apply directly as a teacher with a local contract. In any case, we recommend that you take a look at our job vacancies before applying.

What are the expectations and requirements for teaching staff at GISS?

  • Completed training as a teacher with several years' experience in Primary Schools, Secondary Schools or Comprehensive Schools.
  • Proficient German and English language skills (both written and verbal).
  • Be familiar with competency orientated, enquiry based, growth mindset teaching methods and, intrinsic motivation behaviour management.
  • Outstanding commitment, able to work under pressure and in a collaborative, bilingual and inclusive team environment.
  • The right to work in Australia.
  • NESA accreditation, including a current Working With Children Check (WWCC).

Preschool

The GISS Preschool is currently seeking early childhood educators who are bilingual in German and English and might be interested in filling in as replacement staff on a casual basis when the need should arise. Please click on Job Vacancies for more info.
