GISS AT THE GERMAN CULTURAL DAY

For the first time, the Goethe-Institut invited everyone to enjoy German culture in all its diversity at their premises at Woollahra. GISS was also celebrating the day and offered activities for young and old including a “Lese & Bastelstunde” and an information stand. The highlight was the performance of our GISS junior and secondary Choirs who along with Frau Boubbov and Herr Pedarnig performed a range of songs in German and English.

The festivities also included a vibrant mix of German food and drink, live music and performances as well as special activities for kids and young adults. Thank you to the Goethe-Institut and the Woollahra for organising such a great day!

51 committed students and their families from the GISS Junior and Senior Choirs braved the less-than-perfect weather conditions (and for many, the day after school camp!) to attend the German Cultural Day at the Goethe Institute on 1st April.

Their first public performance of the year was very well received by the sizeable audience, which bustled together in the crowded Goethe Hall. Conducted by Frau Boubbov and accompanied by Herr Pedarnig, the choirs sang an assortment of songs in German and English, and there was even an audience-participation rendition of Bruder Jakob!

The GISS Choirs represented our school with smiles and enthusiasm, leaving a lasting impression on those who were present. Well done, GISS Choirs!
