Thanks to all our parent and student volunteers, GISS staff, many external market stall holders and the generous support of the local community, we were able to transform our grounds into a magical winter wonderland.
A special mention must go to the classes and volunteers that cooked over 200 litres of the most delicious pea soup and over 500 litres of aromatic Glühwein and Kinderpunch. In addition, our parent volunteers made 200 litres of waffle dough and a wide range of treats ranging from Lebkuchenherzen and Donauwelle to a magic Lebkuchen Haus.
Thousands of books had to be sorted beforehand and then sold. Across the weekend you helped us sell over 3000 sausages, 2000 Pretzels and 1000 Berliners.
Whilst the traditional lantern walks, LED hula hoop and fire juggle show, Face painting, Marshmallow Roasting, the games in the sports hall and the wood chip decorating art & craft stall were the highlights for little ones, most visitors were drawn to the many market and our GISS food stalls. They ranged from delicious waffles and mulled wine to a banquet of hearty German delights such as German Sausages, Käsespätzle and Pork Knuckle sandwiches.
