GISS welcomes new Principal

It is with great pleasure that I welcome on behalf of the Board of Directors Dr Lorenz Metzger as our new Principal of the German International School Sydney.

The process to find the right candidate commenced in June 2017 and Dr Metzger presented as the stand-out leader among an exceptional field of candidates. He has over 25 years of experience as an educator in Germany in addition to positions held abroad in the USA and Hong Kong. His most recent position has been as the Principal of a 1140 student Gymnasium near Frankfurt, Germany. He will be joined in Australia by his wife and family later in the year.

From July 2018, Dr Metzger will take over from Mr Seifert who has skillfully steered the school through a challenging transition, successfully managed increasing student numbers and numerous improvements to the schools facilities. The German lead GISS community now has students from 27 nations. The Board shares a real sense of excitement about the appointment of Dr Metzger as he takes on this role at a time when the School is poised to commence the next phase of its development for pedagogical excellence.

In line with the GISS motto Individually responsible and globally aware.

Yours sincerely,

Bernd Winter

Chairman of the Board
