Adventure Games Activities

This AG focuses on developing individual skill sets/Soft skills that allow children to actively participate in physical and social adventures. By playing games and taking part in adventure sports activities, designed to foster positive thinking, resilience, stamina and strength, the children learn to develop their sense of nature, adventure sports and will master in- and outdoor challenges around the school, providing the opportunities to try something new without fearing failure. It utilises individual trainings, group initiatives, and low and high challenge course elements, on land and in waters, to facilitate a fun experience, cooperation, problem solving, trust, empathy and communication. African Drumming

We will start with a short introduction to basic drumming techniques to safely play our drums and hand percussions. Playing drumming games, chanting and using the rhythm of speech to create rhythmical patterns, we will engage everyone in creating groovy rhythms. Drumming is enjoying playing together and having lots of fun. The instructional language of this AG is only in German in order to enhance language learning. (Language: English / German)


In the Art AG students are encouraged to try something new or further develop their own skills with a variety of art making materials such as painting, drawing, film, photography, printmaking or sculpture. Students will be guided through demonstrations and tasks over the duration of the AG art course. (Language: English)


The students will be able to learn skills including, dribbling, shooting, tactics, and playing in game scenarios. This will also help them improve social skills and fitness. The students will also get a chance to play a game at the end of each session. Lastly, it is a chance for students to try out a new sport and the most important factor, to have fun!(Language: English / German)


For Chess beginners, the mysteries of the game will be discovered. For those of you who are more advanced, this is the chance to improve your game. (Language: English)

STEAM (TinkerTank)

Project based and hands-on learning for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) education to develop hard skills for future careers in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. Additionally, problem-solving, creativity, collaboration and design thinking skills will be put to practice in a fun and engaging environment. (Language: English)


Lights, Camera, Action!! Ever wanted to know what it's like to be on a film set? Have you wanted to learn the art of acting for the camera? This is your opportunity to learn the skills to become proficient at acting for the screen. Students will rehearse, make acting choices, costume / make up and shoot their scenes under lights. All under the guidance of actor / acting coach Paul Winchester. Paul has been a professional actor for 25 years + and owns / runs the Point Break Drama Acting studio in Dee Why. A series of scenes will be filmed & edited by Paul, so students have a take home show reel of their work. (Language: English)

Mandarin (Advanced only)

Why should our children learn Mandarin now? Because Mandarin is becoming a major world language. Thanks to the support of the school, GISS has provided this opportunity for our children to learn Mandarin at the school. Learning Mandarin will be fun! Children will also gain knowledge about Chinese culture, customs and its history and are encouraged to cultivate their talents and strengthen their confidence through stories and games. The class is designed for children with no or some previous knowledge of Chinese. Katrina Chou is a native Mandarin speaker, qualified teacher, writer/ translator and currently tutoring a Year 11/12 IB Class in Chinese Literature. (Language: English)

School garden

Our School Garden AG promotes learning with all senses. We will continue to plan, establish and care for our school garden. We will also start with some landscaping. The students will be outside, develop their gardening skills and learn to take responsibility. They will acquire skills about native plants and environmentally appropriate behaviour. Most importantly, this AG will foster a sense of enjoyment associated with plants, animals, and natural phenomena. (Language: English / German)

Mr Mihajlovic is the owner and head coach of Youth Soccer Academy, boasting a successful international soccer career and has had a long relationship with our school. (Language: English)

Social Entrepreneurship

An entrepreneur is someone who owns and runs their own business and is their own boss. Entrepreneurs see opportunities everywhere! A problem or challenge is an opportunity to help people, and learning how businesses can have a social or environmental purpose is a great way to make the world a better place.
You will get to be the boss and have fun learning how to start your own business including how to create a business plan, identify target markets and audiences, manage money, learn about customer service and business ethics. If you are someone who likes solving problems, being creative and making decisions, join our team! (Language: English)

Table tennis

Table tennis is one of the most popular sports in Germany. If you would like to know more about this great sport, you are very welcome to join the AG. We have an experienced and highly motivated Year 11 student who has plenty of experience in the sport and will pass on his enthusiasm to the students. If you already have a table tennis racket, please bring it to the AG. (Language: English / German)


The focus during tennis is on basic hitting of the ball and the rules of the game. Students will be divided into groups according to their ability. (Language: English)
