Kostüme* 

Are you creative and interested in trying out making your own costumes? In this AG, we will design, plan and make our own costumes.
Maybe you will be the winner of the next Halloween parade! The instructional language of this AG is only in German in order to enhance language learning. (Language: German)

Little Scientists

Are you interested in nature, technology, mathematics? This is the right workshop for you! With experiments and the research cycle you will be able to explore a lot of interesting things. Ask questions about nature, formulate hypotheses, develop predictions, gather data, experiment, document and present your findings. You are on the way to becoming a great scientist! Out&About

Explore the delights of our local community! Each week we will venture out of the school to discover the many playgrounds, bushwalks, parks and beaches that our local community has to offer. Come along to climb, slide, run, jump and splash through the afternoon! (Language: English / German)

Sustainability/Environment Club 

The Sustainability/Environment Club is for students who are passionate about the environment! We will be learning all about biodiversity and conservation, going out on community Landcare outings and engaging in climate change action projects. Possible activities may include: flora and fauna surveys in our local area; waste audits; building bee hotels and nest boxes; creating a frog habitat. (Language: English)

Taekwondo

Allowing your children to participate in Taekwondo is a fantastic way for them to explore and develop lifelong skills. Martial arts not only play an important role in exercise, but also promotes mental and psychological growth. This program provides a fun, challenging environment for the students to discover Taekwondo and all it can offer, whilst helping their confidence and self-control develop through games and challenges both physically and mentally".
Darran McNulty is a certified Australian Taekwondo Coach, a 3rd Dan Black Belt and has been teaching at GISS for the last 10 years. (Language: English)

Tennis

The focus during tennis is on basic hitting techniques and rules of the game. Students will be divided into groups according to their ability. (Language: English)

Wind Instruments

Students who are interested in learning a wind instrument or are already playing one are very welcome. After the AG students may arrange additional private lessons with Mr. Boky. (Language: English)

Mindfulness 

Be Kind to Your Mind! Want to learn how to relax more and stress less? Be happy? Be in the moment? Learn how to belly breath and do mindful meditation? We are going to do mindful drawing, mindful walking, and even mindful eating! If you are interested in learning more about mindfulness, join our Mindfulness AG. (Language: English / German)

Creative Writing 

Are you ready to follow your imagination and be inspired to create your own exciting, unique and maybe even mystical adventure? In the Creative Writing Club, you will go on multiple journeys and decide your own fate. Through vivid prompts, whether books with no words or short videos that leave you curious to know more, you decide what happens before, after, or even during a set of visuals. Pick up your crayon, draw a life size door and step inside. (Language: English)

Drama

Lights, Camera, Action!! Ever wanted to know what it's like to be on a film set? Have you wanted to learn the art of acting for the camera? This is your opportunity to learn the skills to become proficient at acting for the screen. Students will rehearse, make acting choices, costume / make up and shoot their scenes under lights. All under the guidance of actor / acting coach Paul Winchester. Paul has been a professional actor for 25 years + and owns / runs the Point Break Drama Acting studio in Dee Why. A series of scenes will be filmed & edited by Paul, so students have a take home show reel of their work. (Language: English)

French 

Learn French with fun songs, games and videos. Amaze and impress your family and friends as you count, speak about your family, pets , likes and dislikes in French! (Language: English)

Kunst* 

A very creative AG. The children learn basic art skills and about the handling of various art and craft materials and are introduced to creative work in small steps. (Language: German)

Musical 

ONLY FOR PARTICIPANTS FROM SEMESTER 1. The Musical AG will be working towards a Theatre performance in the last week of term 2. During the practices we will be singing, dancing, play acting and of course laughing! Come along and join in creating our Performance. Then once you have decided on your favourite character, we can begin learning scripts and songs and making the costumes for the show. If you love the stage, then this is the right AG for you. School garden

Our School Garden AG promotes learning with all senses. We will continue to plan, establish and care for our school garden. We will also start with some landscaping. The students will be outside, develop their gardening skills and learn to take responsibility. They will acquire skills about native plants and environmentally appropriate behavior. Most importantly, this AG will foster a sense of enjoyment associated with plants, animals, and natural phenomena. (Language: English / German)

Soccer

Be the best, learn from the best -The AG offers a course designed to develop the potential of every child attending. It can enhance their confidence, improve ball skills while ensuring fun and a rewarding experience in every sense. Mr Mihajlovic is the owner and head coach of Youth Soccer Academy, boasting a successful international soccer career and has had a long relationship with our school. (Language: English)

STEAM (TinkerTank)

Project-based and hands-on learning for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) education to develop hard skills for future careers in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. Additionally, problem-solving, creativity, collaboration and design thinking skills will be put to practice in a fun and engaging environment. (Language: English)
