Start of school in 2022

Guidelines for families returning to school from overseas in Term 1.

Families returning from overseas during the summer holidays.

New South Wales (NSW) Health has developed specific guidelines for students returning to school who have been overseas, namely -

  • After arriving in NSW, you must have a standard COVID-19 nose and throat test (PCR) at a clinic within 24 hours of arriving in NSW and on or after the seventh day from your arrival in NSW.
  • Vaccinated persons and children under 12 years of age who are not fully vaccinated must not attend school or childcare until they have a negative result from their day 7 test.
  • You will need to submit your negative day 7 test result to school before your children may return to campus. Send a screenshot of your SMS test result to GISS via absent@giss.nsw.edu.au.

Please be mindful that these rules may change without notice, and GISS will follow the most up-to-date advice from NSW Health.

If your travel plans will delay your children's return to school for term 1 2022, please let the school know.

For more information, please refer to the NSW Health guidelines for recent fully vaccinated arrivals.
