IB Scholarship

GISS offers a local scholarship, covering tuition fees only, for the duration of the two-year International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB Year 11 and 12)

Who can apply?

Both internal and external local students with English native speaker fluency, who are currently in Year 10.

Requirements:         

  • Preferably spent at least two years in an Australian school
  • A continuous record of high academic achievements & learning success
  • Students with a high standard of spoken and written English         
  • Excellent Maths skills
  • Willingness to study in an international, multi-cultural, bilingual / multi-lingual environment 
  • Personal integrity and a commitment to service learning         
  • German language knowledge is not a prerequisite

 What does the Scholarship cover?

We currently only have one full scholarship available covering the tuition fees of the two-year programme. If two candidates qualify equally, two scholarships for 50 percent each are possible.

An administration fee of $6000 will apply for the successful candidate which includes

  • $1250 enrolment fee (to be paid upon receipt of your offer to accept the enrolment)
  • $4750 (to be paid upon commencement of studies.) This fee covers general administration costs, IB exam costs, non-returnable text books and calculator, community service camp in Year 11 and excursions.

How to apply? 

  • Complete our online application form (an application fee of $220 is required)
  •  Include a personal statement about what makes you worthy of a GISS scholarship and if selected, how do you intend to leave your mark within the GISS community? Outline your interest in the IB, studying in a multi-cultural bilingual environment and, your goals for the future.
  • Include copies of your birth certificate and passport(s).
  • Include copies of your last four school reports and latest NAPLAN results.
  • Include a letter of recommendation from your current head teacher/principal or other senior teacher who should write about your academic potential, personal integrity and your service contributions to community.

For our current Year 10 students who are already enrolled at GISS: 
You don’t need to send us an application form or a copy of your passport. Please send your personal statement along with your last four school reports and the latest NAPLAN results (if applicable) to: ibscholarship@giss.nsw.edu.au 

Applications close on the Friday of the second week in September each year, allowing us time to inform applicants prior to the spring break.
