Covid 19

OUR COMMUNITY

Schools can play an important role which is why GISS is taking proactive steps to spread information about COVID 19 and its potential transmission within our school community.

The health and safety of our students and staff is paramount and thus we are focusing on preventive measures such as increased cleaning, access to hygiene supplies and compliance with hygiene practicesas that are outlined here in more detail.

Parents and external visitors are also asked to refrain from entering the campus unless absolutely necessary.

WHAT CAN PARENTS/CARERS DO?

  • Leave your child at home and seek medical attention if you, your child(ren) or anyone in your immediate family is exhibiting flu like symptoms (including the common cold) or consider yourself at high risk of exposure.
  • Practice good hand and respiratory hygiene:
    • Thorough & frequent hand washing
    • Cover sneezes and coughs
    • Avoid touching the face
COMMUNICATION & ABSENCES:
  • If your child is absent you can either send a notice via the school app, email absent@giss.nsw.edu.au or call the office.

NO UNNECESSARY VISITS TO SCHOOL

  • Please do not enter the school premises unless absolutely necessary. Please drop off and pick up your child without delay.

REGULAR UPDATES VIA THE GISS APP

  • Please note that GISS is in close contact with the health authorities and continuously monitoring WHO, AIS, Department of Health and Department of Education advisories and actions on information from those official sources.
  • We will provide regular updates via the school app on any further measures that might be necessary. In the meantime, we would like to encourage everyone to practice everyday prevention measures like frequent hand washing, staying home when sick, and covering coughs and sneezes.
