At the end of the school year, Year 10 students in the German stream must take a final examination which is differentiated for Haupt/Real or Gymnasium students and can be defined as obtaining the General Certificate of Secondary Schooling (in Australia School Certificate) for the Realschule and Gymnasium Students .With this certificate Gymnasium students are entitled to enter the qualifying phase of Senior School. The tests consist of a written part and depending on Haupt/Realschule or Gymnasium two or three written tests and an oral part where each student has to be examined in at least one subject.
The written tests were completed in early March and have been subject to double corrections by two teachers at our school with further reviews in Germany commissioned by specialist teachers. The oral exams were conducted on the 11.5.10 when Year 10 as a whole completed their examinations.
As a school, our goal is that all students successfully pass their Year 10 exams. Once again we managed to do very well. And in addition: the students can really be proud of their results in the written tests. There were a lot of ones in English and a lot of good and very goods in the written German exams -such marks have not been achieved often by former classes! The oral tests offered a more colourful picture, but resulted in positive results and all students managed to obtain their Year 10 certificate.

Congratulations Year 10! All the best for those students who are leaving the school who are continuing on to complete their schooling in Germany or somewhere else in the world: Christina, Malte, Arne and Nicolas it has been wonderful to have you in our class and I wish you all the best for your future! And to the others who will complete their IB Diploma at GISS: congratulations on completing the first major step in your schooling. We look forward to seeing you again after your (too long!!!) school holidays and what will soon become very clear: once you have finished one exam another one is just around the corner..............!!!!!!!!!!
Hannelore Trageser- who liked teaching you in German and
Ulli Zimmermann who truly enjoyed being your Maths and Class teacher.
