After months of preparation on Saturday 6th November the day we had all been waiting for finally arrived. The annual “Novemberfest” started out wet and grey and many of us even feared that no one would turn up. We feared that the super slide would turn into a water slide and that on our biggest fundraising day we would be in arrears.

Just the day before, our large, new playing field was officially opened – there was a lot of excitement in the air; there was running and (after so many days of rain) slipping on the wet lawn; even a change of clothes was necessary for some students!
From this experience the Novemberfest organisation team had to come up with a plan B overnight. Market stalls, sports activities, the reptile zoo and much more had to be relocated from the playing field to within the school grounds- only the attractions (slide, bouncy castle, bungee trampoline and crazy ladder) were left on the grassed area and continued to be threatened by the wet weather. Several children came back wet and dirty from slipping in the mud – for this reason our second-hand boutique sold more trousers than they had ever dreamed of. Thank you all for the clothing donations. The second hand boutique managed to raise $ 2,100 a fantastic result.

Despite a rainy start we still had many visitors. Exactly how many visitors did we have in total? It is difficult to judge however, the organisation team is confident that we had well over 1000. Compared to last year we all ate well. We sold about 1000 Sausages, 250 souvlakis, lots of fish rolls and a lot of delicious home-made cakes thanks to our hard-working parents. In the cafe they managed to make $2000. Many thanks to all of the bakers and helpers!

It wasn’t only staff but more than 70 parents helped set up. All of our students were also somehow involved: the younger ones were mainly involved in the stage program and the older students (from Year 5 upwards) had additional tasks as well:
· At the tin can alley Year 5 managed to hand out several boxes of stuffed toys as prizes! Thanks to everyone who donated a cuddly toy!

· Not only did Year 6 help out with the Christmas Bauble Workshop but they also helped out with the clean up and garbage duty (an essential job but not something that anyone wants to do). They all did a fantastic job- thank you very much!
· With the assistance of their enthusiastic parents, Year 7 ran a very successful fish roll stand and managed to make a profit of $600.00. Hats off to Katja Gunness who deserves a special mention. Katja managed to persuade Holland House to donate all the herrings for free and also organised the whole thing.

· The day before the Novemberfest - Year 7E had a full day of setting up all of the chairs and tables
· Year 8E and their parents managed the yummy ice cream stand
· Year 9 showed their creative side with face painting
· Year 10 organised the very popular haunted house- without any assistance
· Year 11 helped organise the football tournament and activities such as basketball, pillow fights and the goal wall
· And one class is missing - no, we haven’t forgotten you! A special mention and thanks goes out to Year 8, who organised the very successful "Drinkalicous" stand. The two managers of the stand; Marie and Anika From Year 8 must be praised. Months before the event they came up with the idea of offering healthy smoothies, homemade lemonade and fruit skewers. What soon transpired? A ton of ideas, which then turned into reality. Year 8 sprung into action; the class was motivated, recipes were sought and tried out during our Halloween festival, sugar water for the lemonade was pre-cooked a week earlier, with the help of their parents the shopping was done, stall signs were made and they even created a roster for the big day. With a profit of $600 – this was truly a great effort! Bravo!

Was the Novemberfest successful?
With the large number of visitors, the sun that eventually came out, happy children and sold out stalls we can definitely say that it was a great day. With a profit of over $18,000, this was a successful fundraiser that allows us to now purchase some much needed equipment for our art room and chemistry lab.
We would like to thank all parents, students, staff and the organising committee who helped make our Novemberfest so successful.
THANK YOU to our sponsors
The day wouldn’t have been possible without all of the donations we received- clothes, toys and cakes thank you so much. And not to forget the contributions from our sponsors towards the Novemberfest and our Silent Auction the monetary donations alone totalled to $11,000.
A special Thank You goes to our Gold Sponsors:
