Welcome to the German International School Sydney website!
We are a young school that opened its doors in 1989. In August 2008 we relocated to a new and modern school campus located in Terrey Hills on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. The school is growing rapidly and is constantly developing. Our school currently has 280 students who are taught by 35 teachers.
GISS is recognised and sponsored by the German authorities and has recently been awarded “Excellent German School Abroad” which is part of a worldwide network with approximately 130 German schools world wide. At the same time it is acknowledged and funded by the Australian authorities as an Australian private school. Therefore most of our students are not only of both German and Australian backgrounds but come from all corners of the world. We have approximately 20 nationalities at our school. German and English are the two primary languages at GISS but many more languages and thus cultures are represented. All of our students and families form a vibrant, multicultural and caring school community.
In an open-minded and cosmopolitan environment our students are academically very well prepared. This is due to a high quality education and educational values where mutual respect and responsibility are one of the main focuses and prepare our students to live in tomorrow’s changing world. We would be more than happy to arrange a school tour for you. Tours of our school campus are available weekly during school terms.
