Auf Wiedersehen und viel Spass Klasse 9E

Hannelore Trageser, Schulleiterin
22.06.2011

There was anticipation in the air on Thursday 2nd June. Year 9E students took off for their long awaited Student Exchange trip to Germany under the protective wings of Mrs Popescu and Frau Ohlhauser. This cultural exchange will be of great benefit to all students and will be an invaluable experience which will open doors to a whole new world and culture.

The trip includes 4 nights in Munich taking in sites such as the beautiful Neuschwanstein Castle and English Garden and 4 nights in Berlin to fill in the historic background. The students will then visit the Georg Christoph Lichtenberg  Schule in Ober-Ramstadt where they will also stay with a German host family. Kai Darmstaedter, now Vice Principal at the school, has been liaising with GISS to make this a wonderful, educational and unforgettable experience for our students.

Inara, Marcus, Benjamin, Alexandra, Tess, Omar, Dieter and Liam will undoubtedly report back to us after the school holidays with lots of stories of adventures and “lost in translation” situations.

The picture above was taken just before they were all sent through passport control at Sydney Airport, being waved off by Uschi Howard (Ben’s) mum, whose Travel Agency, Travel with Kidz Newport and The Travel Authority Northern Beaches, assisted the school with the organisation of the trip.

We would like to thank Uschi for her organisation and fantastic assistance as well as Frau Ohlhauser and Mrs Popescu for taking time out from their families and accompanying the students. We wish all participating students the best of luck and lots of fun.
